8 Days Desert Tour from Casablanca

our driver picks you up from your hotel or riad in Casablanca at 8:00 a.m. Then, we’ll drive toward Fes, the cultural heart of Morocco. Upon arrival, you’ll check into your accommodation before starting a short walking tour through the ancient Medina and colorful souks. Afterward, you’ll have free time to relax and enjoy Moroccan hospitality. Finally, spend the night in a traditional riad or hotel in Fes.

After breakfast, your local guide will meet you to start a full-day discovery of Fes. First, we’ll visit the Royal Palace and the Bab Boujloud Gate. Next, we’ll explore the Jewish Quarter (Mellah) and the University of Al Quaraouine, the oldest university in Africa. Then, we’ll stop at the Tanneries, the Attarine Museum, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss. After lunch, we’ll visit a ceramic cooperative and, finally, enjoy a panoramic view of the Medina. At the end of the day, return to your riad for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we’ll continue our journey toward the Merzouga Desert. Along the way, we’ll pass through Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco due to its European-style architecture. Then, we’ll stop in the Cedar Forest of Azrou to see the wild monkeys. Later, we’ll drive through the Ziz Valley, where you’ll admire beautiful palm groves and mountain views. After that, we’ll visit Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils, before arriving at the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. Here, you’ll meet your camel guide for an unforgettable camel trek to the desert camp. During the ride, enjoy the stunning sunset over the dunes. In the evening, you’ll be welcomed with traditional mint tea, followed by dinner and Berber music. Finally, spend the night in a luxury desert camp under a sky full of stars.

Wake up early to admire the sunrise over the Sahara dunes, a memorable highlight of your desert experience. After breakfast, continue exploring the Merzouga region and visit Khamlia, a traditional village renowned for its Gnawa musical heritage. Enjoy an introduction to this distinctive musical tradition, rooted in sub-Saharan African culture, and experience a live performance by local musicians. You will also have the opportunity to discover local customs, learn about life in the desert, and sample traditional regional cuisine, depending on the arrangements for the day. Early in the morning, wake up to witness a magical sunrise. After breakfast, we’ll drive to Rissani, the first imperial city of Morocco, where you can visit its traditional market. Next, we’ll head to the spectacular Todra Gorges, famous for its dramatic rock formations. Then, continue toward the Dades Valley, where you’ll have dinner and spend the night in a comfortable riad or hotel overlooking the gorges.

After breakfast, we’ll leave the Dades Valley and drive through the Valley of Roses and the Skoura Palm Grove. Soon after, we’ll arrive in Ouarzazate, also known as the Hollywood of Africa. We’ll visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featured in many films such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Then, we’ll cross the scenic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m). During the journey, we’ll stop for photos of Berber villages and panoramic landscapes. Finally, we’ll reach Marrakech in the evening, where you’ll rest for the night in a riad or hotel.

After breakfast, discover the highlights of Marrakech with a professional local guide. Explore the historic Ben Youssef Madrasa, admire the Saadian Tombs, and visit the surroundings of the Koutoubia Mosque, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Continue through the lively traditional souks, where you can discover Moroccan handicrafts, colorful textiles, spices, leather goods, and other local products. The tour concludes at the famous Jemaa el-Fna Square, the vibrant heart of Marrakech. As the day progresses, the square comes alive with food stalls, musicians, storytellers, and traditional street performances.
