The highlight of the adventure is your experience in the Sahara Desert, where you will ride camels across the golden dunes, watch the sunset over Erg Chebbi, and spend a magical evening in a traditional Berber desert camp beneath a breathtaking star-filled sky. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Rose Valley – Dades Gorges+
Pick-up at 8:00 a.m. from your hotel or riad. We cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), the highest road in North Africa. Enjoy panoramic views of Berber villages and spectacular landscapes. We visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for productions such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After lunch, we continue through Ouarzazate, the palm groves of Skoura, the Valley of Roses, and finally the Dades Gorges. Overnight: Hotel/riad in Dades Gorges.
Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert+
After breakfast, we visit the dramatic Dades Gorges and then drive to the Todra Gorges, known for their impressive cliffs. Continue through Erfoud, famous for fossils and dates, before reaching Merzouga. Here, you will enjoy a 1 hour 30 minute camel trekking experience through the Erg Chebbi dunes while admiring the Sahara sunset. Arrive at the desert camp, enjoy Moroccan mint tea, dinner, Berber drumming, and a magical night under the stars. Overnight: Berber desert camp in Merzouga.
Day 3: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Khamlia Village+
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast, we return to Merzouga village and explore nearby desert communities. Visit Khamlia, home of the Gnawa musicians, where you will enjoy live traditional music and a Berber lunch. The afternoon is free at the hotel with views of the dunes. Optional activities include sandboarding or quad biking. Overnight: Hotel/riad in Merzouga.
Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Draa Valley – Zagora+
After breakfast, we drive to Rissani, the first imperial city of Morocco, famous for its authentic market. Continue through the scenic Draa Valley, lined with thousands of palm trees and Berber villages. We make photo stops along the way before arriving in Zagora. Overnight: Hotel/riad in Zagora.
Day 5: Zagora – Agdz – Ouarzazate+
We continue the 6-day Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech through the Draa Valley and the village of Agdz, with a stop for lunch. By evening, we arrive in Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Overnight: Hotel/riad in Ouarzazate.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech+
On the final day, after breakfast, we cross the High Atlas Mountains again and return to Marrakech, where the tour ends.
