The journey starts and ends in Marrakech, passing through ancient kasbahs, palm valleys, Berber villages, and the golden dunes of Merzouga. The highlight will be spending magical nights under the starry desert sky in traditional Berber camps.
Itinerary of the 6-Day Marrakech Desert Tour
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Rose Valley – Dades Gorges
Pick-up at 8:00 a.m. from your hotel or riad. We cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), the highest road in North Africa. Enjoy panoramic views of Berber villages and spectacular landscapes.
We visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After lunch, we continue through Ouarzazate, the palm groves of Skoura, the Valley of Roses, and finally the Dades Gorges.
Overnight in Dades Gorges (hotel/riad).
Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, we visit the dramatic Dades Gorges and then drive to the Todra Gorges, known for their impressive cliffs. Continue through Erfoud, famous for fossils and dates, before reaching Merzouga.
Here, you will enjoy a camel trekking experience (1h 30min) through the Erg Chebbi dunes to admire the Sahara sunset. Arrive at the desert camp, drink Moroccan mint tea, enjoy dinner, Berber drumming, and a night under the stars.

Day 3: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Khamlia Village
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast, we return to Merzouga village and explore nearby desert communities. Visit Khamlia, home of the Gnawa musicians, where you will enjoy live traditional music and a Berber lunch.
Afternoon free at the hotel with views of the dunes. Optional activities: sandboarding or quad biking.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Draa Valley – Zagora
After breakfast, we drive to Rissani, the first imperial city of Morocco, famous for its authentic market. Continue through the scenic Draa Valley, lined with thousands of palm trees and Berber villages. Photo stops along the way before arriving in Zagora, where you will spend the night.
Overnight in Zagora (hotel/riad).
Day 5: Zagora – Agdz – Ouarzazate
We continue the 6 Days Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech through the Draa Valley and the village of Agdz, with a stop for lunch. By evening we arrive in Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Africa.”

Day 6: Ouarzazate – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
